Current restrictions

The ACT is no longer in lockdown.

Essential retail can operate if there’s no more than 1 person per 4 square metres of usable indoor space and usable outdoor space.

Hardware, building, agricultural and rural supply stores, pet stores and businesses that sell essential office supplies can operate, but through click-and-collect or click-and-deliver services only. Up to 2 people from the same household can enter these stores at any one time, but only if they’ve booked an appointment. Children under 12 years aren’t included in this limit.

Trades customers can enter a business that sells hardware and building supplies.

Non-essential retail can operate click-and-collect or click-and-deliver services if there’s no more than 10 staff or 1 person per 4 square metres in the premises, whichever is less.

Up to 2 people from the same household can enter non-essential retail premises at any one time, but only if they book an appointment. Children under 12 years aren’t included in this limit.

No more than 1 agent can conduct inspections of property for rent or sale. Only 1 person, or more than 1 person if they’re from the same household, can attend, but only by private appointment. No one else can be at the property at the time of the inspection, including the property’s residents.

People can film or photograph a property if no one else is present, including the property’s residents. People can also style a property before its sale if no one else is present, including its residents.

Up to 25 people or 1 person per 4 square metres, whichever is less (excluding staff), can attend outdoor auctions or auctions houses.

From 11:59pm, Thursday 21 October 2021

  • Non-essential retail and certain essential retail businesses can reopen to the public.
  • Click-and-collect and click-and-deliver requirements will be removed.
  • Any areas of the business that are accessible to the public will have a 1 person per 4 square metres density limit.
  • Businesses must meet all relevant health and safety obligations.

Mandatory face masks

If you’re aged 12 years or over, whenever you leave your home, you must wear a mask.
