You cannot enter a hospital or aged-care facility if:

  • you are a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case in the last 7 days
  • you tested positive for COVID-19, and it is days 6 and 7 after testing positive — you are also strongly recommended to avoid visiting on days 8-10
  • you have symptoms of a respiratory infection such as a cough, sore throat or shortness of breath
  • you are waiting for COVID-19 test results, unless part of routine surveillance testing and you are not displaying symptoms

You must wear a face mask when visiting a hospital or aged care facility if you are aged 12 and older.

Before you visit a health service or aged care facility, you should check their visitor rules.
