Eosinophilic Oesophagitis (EoE) FAQ - Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA)
Eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE) happens when white blood cells (called eosinophils) deposit in the lining of the oesophagus, which is the muscular tube that connects the mouth to the stomach. This can be the result of an allergic reaction to food or the environment. Most cases of EoE are seen in people with other allergies such as allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and asthma.
