What this medicine is for

REBETOL is intended for use, in a combination regimen with peginterferon alfa-2b, for the treatment of adult patients with chronic hepatitis C: Who are either treatment naive or who had failed previous therapy with interferon alfa (pegylated or nonpegylated) and ribavirin combination therapy or interferon monotherapy (see Clinical Trials). With stable HIV co-infection, who have not previously received interferon treatment. Patients must be 18 years of age or older and have compensated liver disease. Note that REBETOL capsules must not be used alone because ribavirin is not effective as monotherapy in the treatment of hepatitis C.
