What it is used for
Teicoplanin is indicated for the treatment of the following infections due to staphylococci or streptococci, which cannot be treated satisfactorily with less toxic agents, including B-lactam antibiotics: - Bone - osteomyelitis; Joints - septic arthritis; Blood - non-cardiac bacteraemia, septicaemia.
How to take it
This medicine is a pack that contains more than one part.
Part 1: Injection, diluent for
Clear colourless liquid.
The way to take this medicine is: Intramuscular. This medicine is given through a needle inserted into the muscle beneath the skin.
Part 2: Injection, powder for
Sterile, pyrogen-free ivory white powder for reconstitution with water for injections. It is freely soluble in water and on reconstitution gives a clear solution.
The way to take this medicine is: Intravenous. This medicine or fluids is given through a needle or tube (catheter) inserted into a vein.
