The Baby & U project is a home visiting service to women identified as being at risk of perinatal depression or anxiety. Centacare offers parenting and mental health support, at home, to women from the second trimester of pregnancy, up until their child is six months old.
Each family will be visited once per week/fortnight where the staff member will work through 'tip sheets' from an Education Pack. The program covers six areas: Social & Emotional Development, Rest & Routines, Parents & Their Supports, Nutrition, Cognitive Development, Safety & Supervision.
Each family receives a Pre-birth pack consisting of a relaxation DVD, massage oils and a book on reducing stress. After the baby is born families will receive a Birth pack to support and enhance baby's development. A center based parenting group will also be available from third trimester .
