AMIGOS (Addressing Mental Illness and Giving Others Support) - A free group for young people 16-25 who have experienced mental health issues such as depression, mood disorders, anxiety or psychosis. A group for people who want to move back into their community and increase their contact with others as they recover from mental health issues. AMGIOS can meet other young people who share similar experience, hang out with new people, learn about local area services, build on skills for staying well and try activities such as swimming, cooking, games, music, art, bowling. 

Young people aged 16 - 25 who are experiencing/have experienced mental health issues. Must be able to attend the group on their own (a support person can come for the first two sessions).

GP Plus Health Care Centre - Marion

The Partners in Recovery (PIR) program works with the community, primary health care providers and partner organisations to provide high quality, person centred, equitable and accessible healthcare and support. PIR works with Consumers who experience a severe and persistent mental illness and have complex needs.

PIR Support Facilitators work with Consumers to identify and work through barriers so that they can access better coordinated, more effective supports. Support Facilitators have an active role in both individual and systems advocacy.

The PIR program is run as part of a consortium through lead agency NEAMI, the overall aim of the program is to assist services and supports to work in a more collaborative, coordinated and integrated way for people who experience a severe and persistent mental illness.

GROW is weekly meetings of small groups of people who have experienced depression, anxiety or other mental or emotional distress, who come together to help each other deal with the challenges of life. Some people come to GROW while struggling with a life crisis such as the loss of a job, a loved one or a relationship.

Typical groups have 5-9 people and meet weekly, day or night. Meetings last 2 hours and are followed by refreshments. 

Developing understanding, acceptance, confidence, control and love is at the heart of the GROW program. Many people have been able to rebuild their lives with the help of GROW.
