The Emergency Department provides health care to approximately 3,500 people of all ages each month who have life threatening or non life threatening emergencies. Though the Emergency Department treats everyone equally, patients with private health insurance can choose to be admitted as a private patient within the hospital. Those patients may also choose to be transferred to a private hospital. If an ambulance is used, this is at the patient's own expense. 

Lyell McEwin Hospital

When you arrive at the emergency department you will be seen by the duty nurse to collect information and assess your illness or injury. A and E is staffed by private practitioners. The attending GP will charge patients a fee for service.

In a medical emergency always call 000 for immediate access to medical support. SA Ambulance Service emergency medical dispatch support officers can provide advanced first-aid advice over the phone while an ambulance is on its way to you.

Tanunda War Memorial Hospital

Offers a 24-hour emergency medical care/casualty service for the local area - managing a wide variety of illness and injury presentations for all age groups. In a medical emergency always call 000 for immediate access to medical support. SA Ambulance Service emergency medical dispatch support officers can provide advanced first-aid advice over the phone while an ambulance is on its way to you. Life saving treatment can be initiated by ambulance officers before transport to hospital.

Modbury Hospital

In case of emergency telephone 000. When you arrive at the emergency department you will be seen by the duty nurse to collect information and assess your illness or injury. There is a doctor on call, if required. Always call 000 for immediate access to medical support. SA Ambulance Service emergency medical dispatch support officers can provide advanced first-aid advice over the phone, to initiate treatment before being transported to hospital, while an ambulance is on its way to you.

Angaston District Hospital

In case of emergency telephone 000. This is a 24-hour service. When you arrive at the emergency department you will be seen by the duty nurse to collect information and assess your illness or injury. This process is called triage and will help determine what treatment you may need. There is a doctor on call, if required.

Kapunda Hospital

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital ED is open 24- hours a day. When you arrive at the ED you will be seen by a senior nurse to collect information and assess your illness or injury. After seeing the triage nurse, you may be asked to wait in the waiting room. ED provides service to Adults and obstetrics.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital

When you first arrive, a Triage Nurse will initially assess your child's condition. All children are treated according to their medical urgency. Our first priority is to treat children with life or limb threatening illness or injuries, and these patients are attended to immediately.

Once you have spoken to the Triage Nurse you will be asked to see the Receptionist to confirm name, address and your general practitioner. 

Please have your medicare card with you when you present. 

Women's and Children's Hospital

Entry Procedures - Report to reception on arrival. Patients are triaged according to clinical priority. Royal Adelaide Hospital is the largest trauma centre for South Australia supported by cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, orthopaedic, burns, spinal injuries and hyperbaric medicine specialist units.

Royal Adelaide Hospital

24 hour Emergency Centre purpose built and staffed by highly qualified emergency doctors and nurses. Open 365 days a year. Patients are seen according to clinical priority.
