CPX tests provide a dynamic assessment of cardiac and respiratory function.
CPX testing may be indicated in two main groups of patients.

*Patients scheduled for major surgery, e.g. anterior resection, major vascular surgery or thoracic surgery who are either over 60 years of age or are known to have cardiac or pulmonary disease are tested as outpatients prior to surgery

*Medical patients for investigation of respiratory or cardiac disease

Footscray Hospital - Western Health

Echocardiography, Doppler and Colour Flow Studies are available for inpatients and outpatients.  Transoesophageal Echocardiogram (TOE) services are only available through the Cardiology Advanced Registrar.

These clinics identify patients who would benefit from insertion of a permanent pacemaker, perform the periodical checks on the pacemakers and also recommend management of patients with ongoing arrhythmia problems. 
These are Medicare funded clinics.
