WCH Speech Pathologists work in the areas of  speech, language, fluency, voice, feeding.  Speech Pathologists work with other allied health staff, other hospital staff and with community agencies and others involved in the care of children. 

Only children with specific medical conditions are eligible to use the WCH speech therapy services. Eligibility also depends on where you live. Children being treated by the WCH for a medical condition are also eligible for Speech Pathology at the WCH. For other children, the WCH complements the services provided by community health centres and the Department of Education and Children's Services. Written referrals are accepted from WCH doctors, private paediatricians and general practitioners. The Speech Pathology Department provides comprehensive evaluation and management for adults with swallowing and/or communication disorders (including voice and cognition). The areas of head and neck cancer, trauma and stroke, neurology and geriatrics represent the majority of referrals.
