A range of respite services are available which support the person with a disability and their carers. Individual care plans are developed that may include one or several of the following support services:
-- In home respite - Support provided in the home which enables the carer to take a break.
-- Community based respite - Programs that are run in the community which provide support to people with a disability, enabling participation in activities of choice. (Darley Arts Program & Ballan Community House)
-- Individual community based respite - provides the opportunity for people with a disability to pursue and participate in activities of interest utilizing community based facilities and venues.
-- Weekend programs - Small group activities that provide opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in social / recreational activities - may include visiting local attractions such as markets or community events, sporting events, movie nights / days, BBQs, trivia and games nights/days, visiting theme parks or celebrating special events. Activities are planned in advance in consultation with participants, taking into account age, individual interests and personal needs. Groups meet together fortnightly and transport is provided to & from the clients home. Three groups operate specifically for adults, one for teenagers and one for primary aged children.
