Weddings, funerals and religious services - Western Australia

All of WA

Places of worship — such as a church, synagogue, temple or mosque — can operate at full capacity.

You should stay 1.5 metres from people you don’t live with, where possible. Practise good hygiene.

There are no capacity limits to weddings or funerals.

If your wedding or other event is being held at a venue — such as a hotel or function centre — that already has approval to hold events, it’s unlikely you’ll need a COVID Event Plan. Check with the venue operator or relevant Local Government Authority (LGA).

  • Events with 2,500 patrons or less must complete a COVID Event Checklist
  • Events with more than 2,500 patrons must complete a COVID Event Plan

To learn more, go to wa.gov.au and search for ‘COVID Event Guidelines’.

Major events and venues must keep their COVID Safety Plans in place. Venues must also continue to maintain contact registers and use the SafeWA app.

For information on restrictions in Western Australia, visit wa.gov.au. You can also call 13 COVID (13 26843). If you're interstate, call 1800 595 206. If you're overseas, call +61 8 9118 3100.

SafeWA contact register app

The SafeWA check-in app is mandatory across most businesses, venues and events. See wa.gov.au and click on ‘SafeWA: Online contact register’ for more details.
