Hepatitis ACT is Canberra's community hepatitis organisation.  We are funded by ACT Health to provide a comprehensive range of hepatitis related services including information, education, training, prevention, support, advocacy and representation and referral.  We also operate a Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) outlet.

Hepatitis ACT

This is a peer based group that is auspiced and managed by the AIDS Action Council. Peer based activities and social support for people affected by HIV. Services include weekly lunches, peer support network dinners and other special events. A newsletter is developed and circulated at request. A women's group meets throughout the year, especially at Christmas time and during other holidays or special events.

Specialities: Diabetes Education and/or Dietitian, type 1 and 2 diabetes. Face to face, telehealth and zoom consultations available.  Consultations bulk billed (no cost to patient) when referred from doctor with a Medicare Chronic disease individual allied health services plan under a team care arrangement. Private appointments also available, fees apply. Private health rebates may apply depending on the level of cover. Check with the individuals health fund.

The Royal Society for the Blind - ACT

A program supporting young people, up to 25 years old who care for a family member experiencing a physical or intellectual disability, mental health issues, alcohol and other drug related issues and/or chronic illness. Supports young carers through family case management, personalised support/advice, advocacy, organising recreational activities, information and educational support and skills development.

Welcome to S-Anon!  Let us assure you that no matter what feelings you may be having right now, other members of S-Anon have felt similar emotions.  Meetings are a vital part of the S-Anon program, providing us with the opportunity to identify and confirm common problems and to hear the experience, strength and hope of others.

S-Anon Australia

We provide assistance to sex and gender diverse people in accessing medical and other mainstream services. This can include providing background information and support, attending appointments as an advocate or support person, or working directly with service providers to increase their capacity to respond to issues of sex and gender diversity.

Currently there are 120 volunteers who are able to bring their life experiences, energy and skills to assist with the support of patients and their families who are receiving palliative care.  All new volunteers undertake a comprehensive initial training program to provide them with the knowledge, confidence and compassion to care for the dying. 

The retention rate for volunteers is very high, and training occurs a few times a year. We are always pleased to hear from anyone interested in volunteering.

Volunteers may choose to work in:
-	Inpatient facility roster at Clare Holland House
-	Residential aged care facilities
-	Home-based palliative care.
