The Community Development Manager is available to coordinate/facilitate the design and implementation of strategies to help lessen the social and health impact of emergencies on communities and individuals.

The Community Development Manager will work with communities to develop a work plan in consultation with the Social Recovery Committee to support and encourage community self-reliance and, where possible, add to sustainable social infrastructure of Hindmarsh communities.

The Community Development Manager will report to the Social Recovery Committee consisting of Councillors, Dept of Human Services representatives, Victorian Farmers Federation representatives, the four town committees in the municipality and Wimmera Uniting Care.

HINDMARSH SHIRE COUNCIL

Provides social and recreational opportunities for senior citizens.  Activities can include cards, bowls, guest speakers, group meals, gentle exercise, trips, social events, and music.

Nhill Neighbourhood House Inc

Service by appointment only.

The Lactation Consultant provides support, education and practical assistance to mothers and babies experiencing difficulties with breastfeeding.
The Service provides:

-- Education, support and assistance with breastfeeding for women at any time during pregnancy and after the baby arrives.
-- Telephone or face-to-face counselling for mothers.

Day Stay Clinic The Day Stay Clinic is available to assist women who are experiencing difficulties breastfeeding their babies (up to six months of age) by observing and assisting with two feeds during the mother and baby's stay.  An average stay is five to six hours.

A written plan will be given to the mother as well as information on the follow up services available.

Lunch, morning and afternoon tea will be provided.

Hospice or palliative care is the care provided for the person who is dying, as well as the family and friends who are closely involved. Works with professional health carers, community support services, volunteers and community members who are providing hospice care in their homes, in hospitals and nursing homes in all areas throughout the Wimmera region.
