The Melbourne Health Palliative Care Service is a consultative service supporting both The Royal Melbourne Hospital's Royal Park and City campuses of Melbourne Health. This service provides medical and nursing care to referred patients with advanced illness. We offer consultation advice for symptom management, palliative care advice, end of life care, assistance with discharge planning, including information and counseling to patients and their carers regarding palliative care options.

Palliative Care provides care for Melbourne Health patients and refers to all other palliative care agencies – community and inpatient palliative care units as appropriate.

Costs

-- No costs for inpatient services.

-- Community Palliative Care does not incur a cost, however some services (equipment, medication) may incur a cost. 

-- The Palliative Care Unit does not incur a cost.

Inpatient Palliative care beds at Kew and 6th Floor St Vincent's Fitzroy, Day hospice at Kew, Palliative care consult services at St Vincent's Campus Fitzroy. 

Visiting hours: 11am-8pm each day

Caritas Christi Hospice

Families must be assessed for eligibility prior to accessing services. To be eligible families must have a child who has been diagnosed with a life limiting condition.
