NephroCare Australia

The Nephrology Department incorporates the WCH Dialysis Unit and provides inpatient and outpatient services for children who suffer from kidney disease, high blood pressure and kidney failure. The Dialysis Unit provides dialysis treatment for acute and chronic renal failure, and paediatric apharesis. The end-stage renal failure treatment program includes chronic peritoneal dialysis, chronic haemodialysis, renal transplantation. 

Written referrals are required. The referral may be from your general practitioner, general paediatrician or other specialist. 

Appointments can be made by phoning the departmental secretary on 08 8161 7303 or 08 8161 7172. 

The Unit works with a number of other hospital units including the Urology Service - providing comprehensive management of infants and children with complex nephro-urological disorders, the Intensive Care Units to manage acute renal failure and electrolyte problems, the Obstetric Medical Service to assist with kidney dysfunction during pregnancy

Nephrology SA

LMHS satellite dialysis centre provides dialysis services for people with end stage renal failure. It is open six days a week and provides dialysis services for 40 patients, total of 120 treatments a week. It employs renal trained nursing staff and Allied Health staff. See website links for further information available: EntryProcedures The centre has no renal medical specialist on site and all patients requiring medical intervention are referred to their parent hospital for assessment

Lyell McEwin Hospital

The Renal Unit at Flinders Medical Centre is responsible for the diagnosis and management of all renal medical conditions, hypertension and electrolyte disorders. The Unit provides on site acute and chronic dialysis, satellite and a home dialysis service. Renal biopsies are also performed through the Unit as a means to detect kidney problems. Follow up for patients who have had a kidney transplant is also provided.: EntryProcedures Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) Renal Unit provides support for patients suffering from chronic renal failure. The Renal Anaemia Nurse Coordinator assists in the management of pre dialysis and chronic renal failure patients. Written or faxed referrals from general practitioners or other medical specialists are accepted.
