Genetic counselling is designed to provide patients and their families with information about genetic conditions, analyse  inheritance patterns and risks of recurrence and to help them make informed decisions about testing for or management of these conditions.  They provide information and support to families who have members with birth defects or genetic disorders and families who may be at risk for a variety of inherited conditions.
