1800MEDICARE (1800 633 422) offers a free, 24/7 helpline where you can speak to a registered nurse about any health concern. The nurse will ask about your symptoms and guide you to the right care, whether that’s looking after yourself at home or getting help from a health service in your area. You can also access key health information, electronic prescriptions and more through the 1800MEDICARE app.

13 HEALTH provides health information, referral and teletriage services to the public in all parts of Queensland for the cost of a local call. (Calls from mobile phones may be charged at a higher rate. Please check with your telephone service provider).

The Poisons Information Centre provides expert phone advice on the assessment and management of adults and children exposed to possible poisons. These include, medicines, chemicals, cleaning products, bites and stings. they provide advices to both the general public and health professionals and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Calls are answered by Specialists in Poison Information on consultation with Clinical Toxicologists. Note: We do not provide face to face consultations.
