Laura and District Hospital

Laura Hospital is part of the Southern Flinders Health Services with 17 beds comprising of 12 residential care beds and five acute beds, with a 24 hour accident and emergency department which is serviced by two doctors. Basic radiology is provided to general practitioners and trained nursing staff. Community health services include health promotion activities, education and support groups, outreach and palliative care, nursing and Home and Community Care Services. Based in the Adelaide CBD, Streetlink is a free and confidential youth health service that provides a safe place for young people aged 12 to 25, who are homeless, at risk, or vulnerable to seek information, support and connection to services. 

Streetlink is a primary health care service utilising an integrated treatment model that provides medical services, alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment services and mental health services within the one team.

Funded by the Adelaide Primary Health Network, Streetlink has commenced a primary mental health care service for young people with comorbid mental health and substance use concerns. Psychologists in the northern, southern and central regions of Adelaide are available to provide time limited psychological therapies to young people, within a stepped care model, and free of charge.

Primary Mental Health Program Criteria:
•	12-25 years of age
•	Mild to moderate mental illness
•	Comorbid substance use issue (alcohol or illicit drugs)
•	GP Mental health treatment plan referral

Streetlink - Smithfield

Counselling is provided for sexual concerns in women or men, difference in levels of sexual desire with your partner, sexual identity, living with the effects of homophobia, sexual assault or child sexual abuse, living with sexually transmitted infections, termination of pregnancy - pre and post termination issues, sexual issues associated with disabilities. Working with communities in greatest need - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, teenagers, young adults, people from rural and remote areas, diverse CALD backgrounds, same sex attracted (GLBTIQS) people and people with disabilities and those with low socio-economic status. 

Rural clients can phone to arrange for a telephone counselling appointment. The counsellor will then call you at the pre-arranged time.

There may be a waiting time for appointments, as there is often a high demand for counselling.  However, some issues such as unplanned pregnancy are considered a priority and arrangements will be made to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
