MOUNT ALEXANDER SHIRE COUNCIL

These information sessions have regular guest speakers, covering all aspects of diabetes and its management. The group provides a forum for self-help and social support in self managing your diabetes. 
Meetings are held at Castlemaine District Community Health, on the first Thursday of every month, between 10 -11am.

Castlemaine District Community Health

Activity groups are for people who want to make friends, enjoy trips, outings and visits or get some time out.  All activity groups have qualified and experienced staff on hand to help. The groups are for people aged 65+ or 50+ if Aboriginal or/and Torres Strait Islander. Weekly centre-based respite is also available for people who care for someone at home. Castlemaine Health

The Baringhup Social Afternoon is a centre-based 'HACC' [Home and Community Care] funded program which supports frail aged and younger people with disabilities, or their carers by:

-- preventing isolation;

-- offering company and friendship to frail aged or younger people with disabilities; and 

-- supporting carers through a day respite option. 


HACC programs aim to assist clients to remain independent in their own home for as long as they desire and are able to, or to be available to provide respite to carers who may be caring for someone at home.

Time: Wednesdays, 1.30pm (not held in the school holidays)

MALDON HOSPITAL

A program varying from time to time, of recreational activities including quality time, fun time, craft, women's group, youth group, men's group, men in sheds & singing group. They also offer a comprehensive selection of computer and internet programs.

Kangaroo Flat Community Group

This site operates a medical practice with GPs supported by community health nurses and Allied Health staff.

Bendigo Community Health Services - Kangaroo Flat Site

Senior Citizens Clubs provide opportunities for older people to meet socially and to make use of services at a convenient community location. Clubs look forward to new and old members attending. A meal is available at each centre and a variety of activities are organised.

Woodend Panic and Anxiety Group
The Woodend Panic and Anxiety Group is an informal group providing mutual support and encouragement to members.

Macedon Ranges Shire Council - Kyneton Administration Centre

Disability Support Services.
The St. Luke's Disability Support Service is funded by the Department of Human Services under the Disability Services Act (2006) to provide supports to individuals with an identified disability - intellectual, sensory, physical, acquired brain injury.  The Program operates in Macedon Ranges Shire and Bendigo.

There are three components to the Service: 
Outreach - to assist people living independently in the community. This service provides intensive supports for a small number of people sharing accommodation. 
Individual client packages to assist individuals with complex needs to live independently in the community. The Service is flexible and aims to meet individual client needs. 

Direct client support may include:
Living skills, Budgeting and banking, Domestic routines,Tenancy issues,Seeking accommodation,Facilitating social access,Linking people to other services, Liaison with other service providers

Resources and information on Meniers disease, a rare and debilitating ear disease - a disorder of the inner ear that causes episodes of vertigo, tinnitus, a feeling of fullness or pressure in the ear and fluctuating hearing loss.

Meetings are every couple of months. Best thing is for people to check website for meeting dates.
