Free Australian Government-funded medicine information service staffed by registered pharmacists.

Pharmacists are available by telephone (1300 633 424) to answer consumer questions about medicines, complementary medicines and vaccines. 

Can also discuss side effects and help consumers report adverse reactions to medicines and vaccines by submitting reports to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

The service is closed on NSW public holidays.

The Townsville Public Health Unit (TPHU) supports the Townsville, Mackay and Northwest Hospital and Health Services. 

TPHU coordinates and supports public health programs for priority health issues of national, state-wide and local significance, undertakes health surveillance and disease control initiatives including response to disease outbreaks, and implements or oversees the implementation of public health legislation. The Unit is distinguished from other roles of the health system by its focus on the health and well-being of populations, rather than individuals.
