North Metropolitan Commmonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre

Provides short term and emergency respite for Carers: This includes respite under the following programs:
National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP), Mental Health, Young Carers, Carers caring for someone with a severe and profound disability. There are also a limited number of packages that allow flexbility for consumer directed care respite and dementia education and training.

The integrated North Metro Community Alcohol and Drug Service is a partnership between Cyrenian House and Next Step.

The service provides individuals and their families with improved access to a comprehensive range of alcohol and other drug services from one location.

Cyrenian House provides counselling and support for individuals and their families.

Next Step provides medical and psychological services.

Services provided include free and confidential:
•	Assessment and referral.
•	Counselling including single session (adult, youth and family).
•	Group programs.
•	Diversion programs for people referred by police and the courts.
•	Services for youth (including support for schools).
•	Services for people referred by other agencies including mental health, corrective services, child protection and general practitioners.
•	Case management including shared care.
•	Withdrawal services including home-based withdrawal management (through DAWN).
•	Clinical psychology.
•	Medical assessment and review.
•	Opiate and alcohol pharmacotherapy.
•	Community based prevention and community development activities.

In addition, St John of God Hospital Subiaco's Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Network (DAWN) is available at most locations to assist people to manage their withdrawal from alcohol/drug use in the home environment. DAWN's experienced nurses work closely with the client's doctor and provide regular visits during withdrawal.

To access support from NMCADS, please call us to complete a phone assessment so we can determine how best to assist you. For GP's or other agencies wishing to refer a client please complete our agency referral form and fax/email direct to NMCADS.

Target Groups
• People who experience problems associated with their own AOD use
• People having difficulties coping/ maintaining a drug free lifestyle after a period of abstinence 
• People exiting a rehab centre and who request on-going support and counselling 
• People who wish to cease their own drug use 
• People who are mandated to receive counselling for AOD issues 
• Family members requiring support, education including partners who have spouses with AOD issues

Entry Requirements
•	NRS is not for people under 18 years of age, people who require immediate emergency intervention (suicide/ threatening behaviour), people requiring home visits

Salvation Army Bridge Program - Non-Residential Services

NRS is the non-residential, alcohol and other drugs (AOD) counselling service of The Salvation Army Bridge Program. The Bridge Program offers a comprehensive range of AOD services across Perth, enabling participants to enjoy continuity of care and includes: a sobering up unit, detoxification and assessment unit; residential treatment program; and a non-residential counselling service known as Non-Residential Services (NRS). NRS is available to people who have completed a residential treatment program, and also people in the general community experiencing problems associated with their own, family members, or loved ones drug and/or alcohol related issues.

Salvation Army - Lentara

The Aboriginal Alcohol and Drug Service (AADS) Alcohol and other Drug (AOD) Support Services are a multidisciplinary team who have a strong focus on cultural security in service delivery for the community.  

Together the team provide programs to Aboriginal youth, families, men, women (and their children), schools and community groups and to clients within prisons.

Our teams respond to clients' needs through holistic assessment, support planning, culturally appropriate counselling, medical withdrawal support, referral to residential rehabilitation (through partnerships), family support, advocacy, and prisons programs.

The program also delivers information, education and prevention:
•	Alcohol, drug and substance awareness
•	Community justice and diversion
•	Aboriginal history and culture
•	Parenting education
•	Healthy communication and anger management
•	Harm reduction

Entry Requirements
This service is only available to Aboriginal individuals. 

Clients can access the service by walking into the clinic, phoning or through a referral from any health or community service that they are already connected with, such as health services and employment services.

Aboriginal Alcohol and Drug Service

Aboriginal Alcohol and Drug Services (AADS) provide a holistic counselling service to clients dealing with drug and alcohol problems.

Tobacco Policy Section

The Tobacco Policy Section develops and coordinates state-wide tobacco control policy and implementation of the National Tobacco Strategy 2012-2016 in Western Australia. Key responsibilities of the Tobacco Policy Section include: ? Delivery of population-based health promotion programs and mass media campaigns through or in partnership with NGOs; ? Assisting with health promotion planning and priority setting across state-wide health services;? Provision of state-wide Quitline services; ? Development of multisectoral linkages; ? Dissemination of credible, reliable tobacco control policy information; and? Supporting development of effective tobacco control policy through participation in a range of national forums.

Next Step is a government health service that provides a range of treatment services for people experiencing problems associated with their alcohol and other drug use, as well as support for families, clinical placements for students and research. 

Services under Next Step include outpatient treatment services and pharmacy, youth services, and the community pharmacotherapy program. 

Services provided In partnership with the Non-Government sector, Next Step provides outpatient health services at centres located in Warwick, Joondalup, Fremantle, Rockingham, Mandurah, Thornlie, Midland, and East Perth,. 

The health services provided through these seven metropolitan community drug services include: 
•	Specialised medical AOD assessment 
•	Outpatient withdrawal 
•	Opiate and alcohol pharmacotherapy 
•	Clinical psychology Case management and counselling 
•	Pharmacotherapy dispensing for clients with special needs is available from East Perth 

Drug and Alcohol Youth Service (DAYS) is a partnership between Mission Australia and Next Step Youth Service (NSYS) to provide young people and their families with a range of alcohol and drug treatment services. 
Specifically these include: 
•	Assessment and referral 
•	Counselling and case management
•	Clinical psychology
•	Outpatient withdrawal
•	Opiate and alcohol pharmacotherapy
•	Aboriginal and youth mentors 
•	Inpatient withdrawal and respite 
•	Residential rehabilitation 

Community Pharmacotherapy Program within Next Step supports community based health service providers such as GPs and pharmacies to provide opioid substitution treatment to people with opiate and other drug problems. 

Target Groups 
People experiencing problems associated with their alcohol and drug use and their families. 

Entry Requirements 
A formal referral is not required. Clients accessing Next Step services will have a brief initial contact assessment
