We also offer the services of McGrath Breast Care Nurse, cancer care coordinator and psycho-oncology social worker on a part time basis. Referrals can be made on the direct number to the oncology unit.
Young Community Health Centre provides referrals for dietician, speech pathologist, dentist and generalist counsellors.
Young Oncology has links with specialist palliative care services of Mercy Care Centre in Young and we meet with them on a fortnightly basis to discuss and plan care for shared clients.
The Breast Cancer Support Group is an active group who meet every three months. This group is open to anyone who has had a diagnosis of breast cancer at any stage during their lifetime
There are fortnightly medical oncology clinics from The Canberra Hospital. Additionally a radiation oncologist from the Riverina Cancer Care Centre visits monthly to review patients.
This unit is attached to an accident and emergency department. The Emergency Departments and local general practitioners of our catchment area's have a copy of neutropenic guidelines and management. Young Emergency Department has a doctor available between the hours of 9am and 6pm during chemotherapy administration times in case of adverse reaction or event.
