The Clinical Neuropsychology (Adult) Service provides specialist assessment, diagnosis, management, counselling and rehabilitation of individuals with neurological disorders and brain impairment. For example individuals with stroke, dementia and other progressive neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease and Multiple Sclerosis can be referred to the service. The goal of the service is to work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assist in the design and evaluation of specific treatment and management plans for referred patients. Information, advice and support is also provided to staff, patients, carers, community workers and other parties regarding the nature and management of neurological conditions.
Services are provided to the Aged Care Assessment Service (A.C.A.S.), the Rehabilitation Ward, the Geriatric Evaluation and Management Ward (G.E.M.), the Secure Geriatric Evaluation Ward (Secure G.E.M.), and the Community Based Rehabilitation Service at Sunshine Hospital and Western Hospital and Williamstown Hospital on an as needed basis.
Referrals may be discussed with the relevant psychologist by contacting on the telephone numbers listed above.
Referrals should be completed on the appropriate electronic data base, currently 'Healthpower', or if this is unavailable to the referrer, by faxing a written referral.
