Vestibular Rehabilitation:
Eligible clients will undergo a comprehensive vestibular assessment. An individually tailored rehabilitation program will be implemented according to the needs of the client. Program goals are to reduce dizziness, improve balance and functional status. Average length of stay in the program is 6 to 8 weeks, but may vary according to diagnosis and progress.
Physiotherapy:
Services include assessment and treatment of cardiac, respiratory, orthopaedic and neurological conditions and for those patients who require assessment / assistance with mobility problems. This includes service to children and to pre and post-natal women. Interventions may include gait training, techniques to improve respiratory capacity, provision of exercises, hydrotherapy and self-management programs. Gait aids and some braces may be provided. Discharge planning is provided including referral for post discharge physiotherapy if required either at Western Health or a Community Agency. Referrals for outpatient physiotherapy are accepted for hospital patients only - exceptions to this are for Community Rehabilitation Centre referrals (see CRC entry in Aged care, Rehabilitation and Subacute Care).
