Speech Pathology provides assessment and treatment of people who have difficulties with communication and swallowing food and drinks.
The five areas of communication are:
-- Speech - the physical production of sounds.
-- Language - understanding what words mean, putting sentences together, writing clearly, understanding written language.
-- Pragmatics - the social practices for how we interact with each other.
-- Fluency - the smooth rhythm and pattern or talking.
-- Voice - The production of sound by vicbrating the vocal cords.The Speech Pathologist can assist with conditions such as; stroke, hearing loss, cleft and lip palate, physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities such as Down Syndrome and Autism, acquired brain injury and head or neck cancers.
A visiting service is available on Tuesday mornings, by appointment.
Fees
$8 Health Care Cardholders or Pensioners, $15 non cardholders.
