1)People who are homeless can work with specialist staff to find- and keep - somewhere decent to live. We can let you know about all the options help you apply for housing with manageable rents. YFS also manages some properties in Logan that come with support so that people and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless can sort out their problems. Some of this is for a short stay a place to live while looking for long term social housing or private rentals, and some houses are rented to tenants' long term through the One Social Housing System. (The One Social Housing System houses are for people who have their names and details registered on the government's waiting list).
2)YFS has one central door for all new users of our services. When you ring or call into YFS, the person you speak will be from the Information, Referral and Assessment Services (IRAS). IRAS staff will help you work out which of our services fit best with your circumstances. We will link you with staff at YFS services or in other organisations that may be able to help you.
3)Experienced counsellors at YFS provide information, support and counselling for people experiencing violence in their relationships. YFS also helps men who have a history of violence to find other ways to act in relationships. People come to our group sessions to talk about some of the things they are going through, learn together about how to solve problems and support each other. If you are in an abusive relationship or have lived with domestic or family violence in the past, contact YFS to find out how we can help - it can be very hard to cope alone with this.
