The Sandringham Dialysis Unit (S.D.U) provides haemodialysis for patients with end stage renal failure requiring renal replacement therapy.
The unit is a satellite unit of Alfred Health and therefore has very close links with the renal unit at The Alfred.
We have patients referred from many major hospitals however the majority of patients are from The Alfred and Monash Hospital.
The unit has twelve dialysis positions with two shifts per day. We care for 48 patients.
It is the aim of the staff at S.D.U to provide a welcoming, nurturing and safe environment. All staff have a wealth of experience in the field of renal nursing and have undertaken training from all major hospitals in Victoria and overseas.
We promote primary nursing within the unit, which enhances and facilitates holistic, optimal care for our patients.
A Renal Consultant visits the unit on a weekly basis providing assessment and treatment direction for the patients if required.
