Diabetes services for adult patients are provided in Central Outpatients located in Building 1, Level 2 of the Canberra Hospital. The service is free for those referred to the Hospital. For those privately referred to a specific physician the service is bulk billed. A medical referral is required for an appointment. The referral is triaged and scanned into a database. The patient is then contacted with an appointment time, either by letter or phone call from the Central Outpatient Department staff. Diabetes outpatient services are supported by Diabetes Educators, Dietitians, Podiatrists and a Social Worker providing education and counselling services.
