Pre-Surgery:
All surgical clients awaiting heart surgery in the ACT and close surrounding areas of NSW are invited to attend a pre-surgical education session with their family.
This session covers expectations of pre and postoperative care and enables the opportunity for referral to other health professionals to ease the client's journey and to also be informed fully about going home after surgery.
Post-Surgery:
All surgical clients attend a postoperative education talk session before discharge from hospital with family in attendance. This session is conducted by a Cardiac Rehabilitation nurse and physiotherapist.
All surgical clients in the ACT are reviewed two weeks post operative in the cardiology department by the cardiac rehabilitation nurse.
