Occupational therapists help children and adolescents to become more independent and function the best they can at home and at school. Occupational therapists focus on developing fine and gross motor skills, addressing sensory concerns and emotional regulation. Motor difficulties can affect your child's ability to participate in school and their learning outcomes. Sensory issues such as being overstimulated by sounds, texture, taste and visual stimuli can result in your child struggling with attention, concentration and result in increased anxiety.
Sessions will be family centred and focus on your child's individual needs. Often an assessment is conducted prior to commencing therapy to ascertain the areas where your child requires the most support and to develop a targeted intervention plan.
Our therapists are available to provide assessment and therapy for a range of issues including: attention and concentration issues, coordination
Emotional regulation, Fine motor abilities such as handwriting, gross motor abilities, including muscle control and coordination, overactivity or excessive movement, self-care skills such as dressing, feeding and toileting, sensory processing difficulties (touch, taste, smell, movement and sight)
