The Physiotherapy Dept provides a service to the in-patients in Ararat and Willaura campuses, Day Centre, Aged Care facilities, Out-patients services and Community Centre programs including ante natal and pulmonary rehabilitation.
Physiotherapists are trained to assist people recover from injuries to their neuromuscular skeletal system.
Conditions that can be treated are; sporting injuries, muscle strains and contusions, back and neck injuries, child development disorders, ante and post natal exercises, incontinence treatments, work related injuries, joint sprains, cardiac rehabilitation, community education, chest conditions, neurological disorders, pre and post surgical management, hydrotherapy treatment, hire of crutches and walking aids.
The Physiotherapy Dept also provides visiting services to:
Lake Bolac Bush Nursing Centre, Elmhurst Bush Nursing Centre, East Wimmera Health Service, Ararat Prison & Avoca Health Service.
A member of the physiotherapy staff is an Active Script enabler for Ararat. Prescriptions for exercise are given by GPs and referral to the enabler who will assist the patient in choosing and following up commencement of exercise. The enabler will use any of classes/businesses in the region to encourage participation.
