Cardiac rehabilitation is an exercise and education program for anyone who has risk factors, cardiac interventions and sternotomies. Pulmonary rehabilitation is an exercise and education program for anyone who has a chronic lung disease, including those who require oxygen therapy. The aims are to enhance coping strategies, improve knowledge of cardiac conditions and health, improve medication knowledge, increase fitness and quality of life, and increase periods of wellness and decrease hospital admissions. The goals of the rehabilitation services are to optimise functional abilities, increase fitness with an individualised exercise program, and increase knowledge of condition, medication and healthy lifestyle. A referral from a GP is required to enter the program.
