the aim of the Early intervention research program: To identify children with autism as early as possible, preferably before the age of two. For these children to start immediate intensive early intervention with the Early intervention research program. To help these children reach their full potential both academically and in each of the 3 areas associated with a diagnosis of autism: social, communication and stereotypical/ritualistic behaviours.
* To teach children to play, and to discover intrinsic enjoyment through play. To improve children’s eye contact and general enjoyment of social activities and play with peers.
* To increase the children’s ability to communicate verbally or through alternate means (PECS, sign). To decrease and prevent stereotypical, repetitive and ritualistic behaviours that interfere with children’s learning and daily living skills.
* To educate and therefore empower parents in the education of their children and decrease elevated stress levels.
