The Family Services Program provides a number of services designed to meet specific family needs including parenting group courses ranging from 6 - 10 weeks covering a range of topics, 2 hour parenting workshops issues such as managing children's behaviour, raising self esteem for you and your family, protective behaviours, personal and confidential counselling parents, couples, children and families.
Qualified social workers provide parenting groups/workshops and counselling for parents, children and families covering issues such as: grief and loss, children affected by domestic violence, anger/frustration and separated/blended families.

Young Carer Programme:
The Young Carer Program supports Young Carers, who live in the North & West metropolitan areas of Adelaide, to manage the pressures and responsibilities of their caring role. We provide young carers the opportunity to have fun, attend activities, make new friends, learn new skills, meet other Carers and most importantly to have a break. Support is provided to young carers (who provide care in a family affected by illness, disability or mental health), by providing short-term and emergency relief and respite from their caring role.

Respite Support for Carers of Young People with Severe or Profound Disability:
This program supports carers of individuals aged under 30 living with multiple or complex disabilities and carers of people under 65 with a disability who are experiencing significant stress within their caring role by providing a short term respite break.
The program focusses on the individual needs of the carers, allowing them to exercise choice and control over the respite they receive. Education, in home or out of home respite and support to facilitate community participation can also be accessed under this program.

Employed Carers program:

The Community Support Scheme (CSS) connects individuals with Support Workers who actively work with them to meet their goals and respond to their changing needs. Consumers are engaged in goal setting and have an individual support plan in place which is reviewed regularly. UCWB provides this service in partnership with SA Health and supports individuals with lived experience of mental illness and physical or other disability. CSS works within a recovery model framework to support Consumers to remain connected to the community while maintaining and promoting independence. Support can cover the following areas:
• Social Support:
– Assisting with identifying and linking into activities in the community, building self-esteem and working through social barriers.
• Domestic Assistance:
– Working with the Consumer to build skills and capacity to maintain the home environment.
• Home Maintenance:
- Identifying and assisting the Consumer to address home maintenance issues including gardening and building skills in this area.
To be eligible for CSS a Consumer must be under Care Coordination within their regional Community Mental Health Centre.

The Partners in Recovery (PIR) program works with the community, primary health care providers and partner organisations to provide high quality, person centred, equitable and accessible healthcare and support. PIR works with Consumers who experience a severe and persistent mental illness and have complex needs.
PIR Support Facilitators work with Consumers to identify and work through barriers so that they can access better coordinated, more effective supports. Support Facilitators have an active role in both individual and systems advocacy.
The PIR program is run as part of a consortium through lead agency NEAMI, the overall aim of the program is to assist services and supports to work in a more collaborative, coordinated and integrated way for people who experience a severe and persistent mental illness.

Carers are usually family members or friends who provide support to someone living at home who has a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, dementia or who is frail aged. UCWB Financial Counsellors provide information, support and advocacy to people in financial difficulty. We provide a free, non-judgemental and confidential service.
Financial Counsellors can explain how to manage financial problems as well as their consequences. Financial Counsellors can assist by speaking to creditors, negotiating repayment arrangements or in applying for hardship (where applicable).
This service is available to anybody experiencing financial difficulties and interpreters are also available at no charge.
Financial Counsellors offer support and advocacy for the following issues:
• Eligibility for government assistance
• Organise and prepare a budget
• Disconnection (or threat) of gas, electricity and telephone services
• Mortgage arrears and threat of repossession
• Rent arrears and threat of eviction
• Threatening letters and phone calls from debt collectors
• Debt recovery through courts
• Unpaid fines, taxation debts, loan arrears
• Variations based on hardship
• Bankruptcy and other alternatives

Low Income Support Programme:
UCWB works with like-minded agencies and organisations to raise awareness of the causes and effects that poverty and hardship can have in the local community. The Low Income Support Program develops strategies and resources to help alleviate the stresses that poverty and disadvantage can bring to individuals and families, as it aims to help people gain control of their financial situation. The Program incorporates community development, community education, advocacy and financial counselling to individuals and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.

UCWB is managing the delivery of the SA Community Foodies Program across the state in conjunction with UnitingCare Wesley Country SA and ac.care (project partners).
The SA Community Foodies Program has a statewide reach with Foodie Coordinators being located in metropolitan Adelaide as well as regional centres in both the north and south of the state.
