The Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre is an Australian Government funded program designed to assist carers in accessing respite services and gain information on services available in the community. Carers are usually family members or friends who provide support to someone living at home who has a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, dementia or who is frail aged. See website links for further information. To be eligible for support the carer must reside within the North and West metropolitan regions of Adelaide. This program provides respite on a short term or emergency basis and is designed to relieve the carer of the tasks associated with their caring role if they are temporarily unable to. Support can include domestic assistance; meal preparation, check visits, transportation; in home or out of home respite, overnight respite; residential respite; support to access residential facilities, advocacy, information and referral.
