YouthReach South and YouthLink provide services to young people
• aged 13-24 years
• experiencing serious mental health problems or at significant risk of developing serious mental health problems
• experiencing significant barriers in accessing other mental health services, including homelessness and transience, limited support networks, Aboriginal identity, marginalisation due to diverse sexuality and gender, and previous negative treatment experiences
• who are help accepting and consenting to mental health treatment and support
• primarily residing in the Perth metropolitan area.
All young people meeting these criteria will be considered for acceptance to the service. However, where the young person's needs may be more appropriately met by another service, the young person and the referrer will be provided with advice and support to access other services. The Youth Mental Health Program does not provide comprehensive services to the youth population. Specifically, it does not provide acute or urgent responses to unknown clients in crisis. Young people who are not known to the service who require acute mental health services will be directed to other appropriate services.
