Telecross is a very simple concept - a free reassuring daily phone call for seniors, those with a disability and carers. Run by Red Cross all over Australia, Telecross provides a friendly daily phone call by volunteers to members of the community who may be housebound, unwell or have chronic or unstable medical conditions to ensure that they are safe and well. Telecross provides peace of mind to you and your family and a way for people to remain engaged with the wider community, and can provide services to people in South East NSW as well as the ACT.
Calls are made within an agreed time period each morning to people who live alone, are socially isolated or at risk of accident or illness, and calls can receive calls seven days a week. If a client does not answer their phone, we will make a further attempt before staff contact your nominated contacts to ask them to check on you immediately. If no-one is available Red Cross will request that the police visit to conduct a welfare check.
Clients and volunteers also hold social groups to share new connections with others in Red Cross programs.
Fees for Telecross are based on an annual subscription. Payment plans may be arranged for self-funded subscribers.

Red Cross provides two services for people who wish to receive a friendly social visit on a regular basis- the MATES program, and the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS).
We can match each client with a volunteer who has similar interests to them and is able to spend time enjoying activities that you enjoy. The programs aim to enrich the independence and quality of life for older people and people with a disability living in the community
Our MATES program works with people who enjoy a friendly face coming to visit them in their home, or to take them out for a visit to trip in their community. Clients and volunteers also hold social groups to share new connections with others in the program.
Our Community Visiting Service (CVS) is a free program works with people who reside in nursing homes or residential care, who would like to meet new people and share a friendly conversation or group activity with one of our volunteers. We can also visit people in their home, or to take them out for a visit to trip in their community, and can provide services to people in South East NSW as well as the ACT.
All of our volunteers are specially matched to each client, and are trained to a high standard. Our volunteers receive consistent excellent feedback from our clients and their families.
The MATES program attracts an annual subscription fee to support the cost of recruiting, training and supporting volunteers. Payment plans may be arranged for self-funded subscribers. CVS is a free service.

We offer a range of personal alarms that provide access to emergency assistance 24 hours per day every day of the year.
The alarm unit connects to a call centre, which upon an activation of your alarm can contact friends, family or emergency responders if required.
Within this service, Red Cross can provide:
- The alarm unit
- Waterproof pendant alarm button
- Installation and assistance
- Maintenance service and replacement batteries
- Key safe (additional costs may apply)
- Falls detector (additional costs apply)
Clients and volunteers also hold social groups to share new connections with others in Red Cross programs.
Costs apply, and will vary depending on your package situation. A six month payment plan can be arranged for self-funded subscribers.

Meals on Wheels provides a range of frozen and fresh meals delivered to your door. Our service is More than a Meal, this is because our friendly volunteers drivers check in when they deliver your meals, they stop and say 'hi' and check how you're doing. If there are any problems they notify Red Cross staff who follow up with your identified contact.
You can have your meals delivered as many or few times each week as you like, we do recommend at least twice a week though to increase your contact with our volunteers.
Clients can receive the fresh meal service up to 5 days a week, with an extra meal on Thursday and Friday to cover you for the weekend.
Our meals are sourced through 3 different suppliers, offering you the best variety and pricing range we can find. Meal options range from soups and salads, to breakfasts and hearty main meals. We also have some vegetarian and gluten free options, with some menus catering for people with allergies.
Meals can also come prepared for you, including cut, blended or pureed, to help you enjoy your meal.
Clients and volunteers also hold social groups to share new connections with others in Red Cross programs.
Fees for Meals On Wheels apply, and we can arrange payment through direct debit, cheque or credit card.

TeleCHAT provides a social telephone call to people living in the community to provide support, friendship and community connection. The program aims to enrich the independence and quality of life for older people and people with a disability living in the community. We match you to your caller based on common interests or experiences. Your caller will phone you at an agreed time and day, usually once or twice a week.
TeleCHAT provides an opportunity for people with limited community involvement to enjoy non service delivery related 'chats' with someone who shares their interests. TeleCHAT may also be suitable for people waiting for a vacancy in the visiting services of Red Cross, and can provide services to people in South East NSW as well as the ACT.

The Personal Alarm Service provides clients with a personal alarm pendant that can activate a call if the person needs medical assistance. Red Cross has a number of different alarm programs, each of which has different eligibility criteria and costs. Your information will be used to determine which program you may be eligible for and you will then be advised of the costs involved.
There are no contracts involved with having a personal alarm, however when the alarm is no longer needed it can be cancelled and as soon as the alarm is returned to Red Cross the payments will stop.
