Carers NT

Carers NT is a not-for-profit community based organisation and registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of unpaid family carers in the Northern Territory.

As part of the National Network of Carers Associations, Carers NT is recognised at Territory, State and Federal levels as the voice of family carers, representing carers’ interests in the Northern Territory community.

A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or drug related issue or frail aged. Nobody plans to become an unpaid family carer however it could happen to anyone at anytime.

There are 1 in 8 Australians with a caring responsibility at any one time. Also, with the Australian aging population it is highly likely that you will either be a carer or need to rely on a carer at some stage in your life.

With offices in Darwin, Alice Springs and Katherine, Carers NT offer supports and services such as respite, emotional support, social support, advocacy, education, counselling and other therapies.

For more information, register for services or to become a member contact Carers NT on 1800 242 636 or email carersnt@carersnt.asn.au
