Australian Physiotherapy Association

With over 31,000 members, the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) is the peak body representing the interests of Australian physiotherapists and their patients. The APA is a not for profit membership organisation with a head office in Melbourne and state branches across Australia.

Vision and mission

Assist the community to recognise the benefit of choosing physiotherapy.

APA are committed to professional excellence and career success for our members, which translates into better patient outcomes and improved health for all Australians. Through the APA’s 20 special interest National Groups we offer advanced training and collegial support for physiotherapists working in similar areas of practice.

How the Australian Physiotherapy Association can help

Physiotherapists help their patients get the most out of life. They help them recover from injury, reduce pain and stiffness, increase mobility and prevent further injury. They listen to their needs to tailor a treatment specific to their condition. As first contact practitioners, you don’t need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist. Physiotherapists, doctors, and other health professionals will often work as part of a team to plan and manage treatment for a specific condition and delivery of patient care plans.
