Stepping Stones for Life

The Day Hospice offers a day with a difference for those in our community with a life-threatening illness and their families.  

The service operates on Mondays and Fridays between the hours of 9.00am - 4.00pm (except public holidays). It is staffed by experienced palliative care nurses and an activity officer who are well supported by trained volunteers.

The aim of the service is to provide a safe and supportive environment for palliative care clients to enjoy a range of activities, therapies, relaxation and give respite to carers or family members.

Services include:  Palliative Care ACT lobby and promote the delivery of quality care at end of life, and to offer compassion and support to the terminally ill, their carers and family.  We also run a large and proficient volunteers program at the ACT Hospice (Clare Holland House), patients' homes, residential aged care facilities, Life Stories and at the Day Hospices.

Palliative Care ACT

Carers provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue or who are frail aged.

Carers Australia

This service provides overnight community respite for people with dementia and frail aged.

Services include: The Cottage provides innovative, occupational activities. It is a home away from home which focuses on activities and building friendships to ensure guests feel welcome and stimulated.
Respite at The Cottage gives carers an opportunity to enjoy a break while secure in the knowledge that the person they care for is safe and enjoying the many things to do.
