Kiah is a one-of-a kind health service in Brisbane, providing accommodation and transport for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from rural and remote areas travelling to Brisbane for medical treatment. Indigenous or mixed family patients and their escorts are able to stay with us for as long as required, and there are no out-of-pocket expenses for patients approved under the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme (QLD) or interstate equivalent. Kiah provides a home away from home, offering home-cooked meals (for a nominal fee of $5), free transport and comfortable accommodation. Guests are also able to use our kitchen to cook their own food.
