The Social Work Service is an integrated department providing services across all sites and areas with Senior Social Workers as Team Leaders for each service area. 

Social Work services include: 

• counselling
• comprehensive assessment of patients and their needs
• advocacy for patients, carers and external community agencies where necessary
• planning for discharge

Peninsula Health Social Work Department provides social work assistance to patients, their families and carers across the four major campuses of the health service.Social Workers are part of the health team and they respect patient's rights to be involved in their care.Social Workers provide assistance to patients in relation to the impact of hospital admission on their life, and they provide a range of services to assist future planning, advocacy and social support partciularly on discharge from hospital. The Social Work Department can also arrange for an interpreter to be available for those patients where English is not their first language.
