Womens' and Childrens' Imaging Specialists

The Shared Maternity Care Program is available to all women with low risk pregnancies. Shared Maternity Care is a model of care which allows women to have the majority of their antenatal visits take place in the community with a hospital affiliated general practitioner, obstetrician or midwife. The woman attends Sunshine Hospital for some antenatal visits, and attends the hospital for the birth and immediate postnatal care. 

GPs and community midwives seeking accreditation to the Sunshine Hospital Shared Maternity Care Program should contact the Shared Maternity Care Coordinator.

This is a consultative service for obstetric staff, as well as offering a limited number of appointments for face-to-face consultations and counselling of couples affected by hereditary haemoglobinopathies.

In association with the physicians, in the co-located Medical Obstetric Clinic and Obstetric Endocrine Clinic, this clinic provides multidisciplinary care for women whose pregnancies are complicated by pre-existing medical disorders or gestational diabetes. (See also Tuesday High Risk Maternity Clinic)

Domiciliary Services are provided by registered midwives who visit new mothers after discharge from hospital. Babies and children receive HITH by midwives and registered nurses as required. Women who have received care in gynaecology units can also access HITH as required or indicated.

Hours:		Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm
		Saturday 8.30am - 1.30pm

The PDSU provides a service of assessment and monitoring of pregnant women with obstetric complications including performance of CTGs, serial blood pressure assessments, insulin stabilization and Prostin cervical ripening. 
Staff are available at the above times for phone consultation and the making of appointments. Shared Care GPs may use PDSU as a first point of contact with Sunshine Hospital if their patients develop antenatal complications. 
Please include a referral letter with your contact details to facilitate a report after the woman has been assessed.
