The best person to determine which insole or orthoses will suit a particular foot type and be most appropriate is a podiatrist, especially one with experience in gait analysis and orthoses prescription.  All insoles alter the way not only your foot, but your whole lower limb functions, therefore an assessment before implementing orthotic use is recommended.  Also, your podiatrist will be able to determine whether the footwear being used for any particular activity complements or hinders the efficient use of an orthotic.
