Queensland ONLY 1300 766 927. The Queensland Bowel Cancer Screening Program is part of a National Bowel Cancer Screening Program using Faecal Occult Blood Testing (FOBT). The FOBT is a simple to use test which involves collecting a small sample from two bowel motions. An FOBT looks to see whether there are tiny amounts of blood in your motion. Anyone with a positive test (ie blood is found in the bowel motion) will be asked to visit their GP and will then be referred for further investigations, which will usually involve a colonoscopy. The kits are being sent out by the Australian Government to men and women turning 50, 55 or 65 between 2008 and 2010. FOBT kits are sent to the current registered Medicare address of eligible people.
