Physiotherapy provides assessment, treatment and prevention of disorders of human movement. This includes relief from pain and stiffness of joints; prevention of injury; improved strength and coordination; assistance with bladder and bowel health; and help for people with disabilities to live as independently as possible. Physiotherapy also provides rehabilitation for people who have suffered strokes, have other neurological conditions, or who have pulmonary conditions.
People who benefit from physiotherapy include those with heart and lung conditions, back, neck or other joint problems, nervous system disorders, sporting injuries, those having babies and children with special needs.
The department also has walking aids, including crutches and walking frames available for hire and can arrnage walking aids and frames for purchasing.
The Physiotherapy Department also provides groups for rehabilitation and gait and balance.
