The Central West Radiation Oncology Unit commenced services in May 2011 and provides a high quality service for rural cancer patients. Multidisciplinary teams assess and establish the best treatment course for patients using evidence based practices and provide each patient with a clear pathway of care.
The planning of radiation therapy utilises state of the art equient that enables computerised tomography (CT) simulation and three dimensional planning techniques and the treatment facility is equipped with the latest imaging capabilities ensuring excellent accuracy and quality of treatment delivery.
Central West Cancer Service strongly supports staff professional develoent which ensures all staff are highly trained and educated in the latest techniques and technologies and thus can provide cancer patients with the best possible levels of care. Being a regional centre the Central West Cancer Service patient care models and research have a rural focus in order to better meet the needs of central west cancer patients.
Central West Cancer Service can provide specialised care services coordinated by the rural cancer care coordinator and McGrath breast care nurse.
