Our occupational therapists use a number of tools to support the development of foundational abilities. Treatment protocols such as the Willbarger Therapressure Protocol, Sensory Diets, and Therapeutic Listening have been shown to shift anxious, threatened nervous systems into a calmer state that enables children with autism spectrum disorders to engage with caregivers and peers more readily, and to access opportunities for learning. Often, older children with autism have difficulties understanding emotions and how their emotions can affect others.
