CAMHS is a confidential specialist service available to assist young people, including refugees, and their families, up to the age of 18 with their mental health issues. Children and adolescents may present at CAMHS with severe: Behavioural problems Emotional problems Relationship problems Developmental problems Health and wellbeing problems Other psychological problems
CAMHS provides assessment, case management and treatment for children and young people, and their families and carers. During the initial phone call it could be identified that CAMHS may not be the best service for families and more suitable options are suggested. If CAMHS is the most appropriate service, a case manager is allocated, an assessment is conducted and a treatment plan is developed with the family and young person.
