The District Nurses are professional nurses who undertake nursing services in the clients home. These services include a wide range of nursing care and personal care activities.
Our Registered Nurses are educated to undertake complex which includes the following: Dressings, injections, suction, oxygen and other respiratory therapy, nasogastric and gastrostomy feedings, urine testing, collection of pathology specimens, administration of suppositories, enemas and pessaries; catheterisation and bladder irrigation; blood glucose testing, administration of medication, complex health teaching and counselling and all aspects of palliative care.
As well they undertake personal care consisting of a range of activites that a person would normally do themselves but because of illness, disability or frailty they are unable to perform without the assistance of another person.
People of all ages requiring care at home can use the service, subject to our nursing assessment.
Where the service is requested the nurses will visit at an arranged time and undertake and assessment to determine the care required.
If there has been no Doctor's referral, the nurses may request one at this time if they think it is necessary.
Fees:
Fees are charged per visit, dependent on people's requirements. Dressings requirements are supplied at minimal cost.

People living in Ararat & district. Consideration will be given to treatment of people in outlying areas.
